Let the festivities begin as the Kadayawan Festival of Davao City was officially opened this afternoon at the People's Park in this city. Kadayawan Festival which is celebrated every third week of August is a celebration of thanksgiving for bountiful blessings. So when August kicks in, the city is ushered into a month of full of merriment and the one that most of us look forward to, a month filled with holidays. In fact, August 19 has already been declared a non-working holiday for Davaoenos in celebration of the Kadayawan. If you're in for some fun, you might want to join and go see one of the activities lined-up for this year's Kadayawan. Here's what's cooking:
Agro-Industrial Trade Fair Exhibit - this is a must-see event for those who loves flowers and plants.
SM City of Davao
Hudyakaan - I don't wanna miss this one this year, I'd love to try foodtripping on a budget.
Hiyas ng Kadayawan Finals - Find out who will be crowned as this year's most beautiful and smartest.
Davao City Recreational Center
August 17, 6PM
SM City of Davao
Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan - it's one of the highlights of the Kadayawan Festival where participants compete in a choreographed streetdance which is anchored on indigenous celebration. This is held in the major streets of Davao City.
August 20, 1PM
R.Magsaysay Avenue to San Pedro St.
Pamulak sa Kadalanan - A floral parade where floats of competing groups are adorned with fruits and flowers.
The ones I listed above are just some of the major happenings in Davao City this week, of course there will be shows in major malls to expect with celebrities from major networks. In case you decide to go around, don't forget to bring some moolah with you because I tell you, you will find a lot of good things to buy. Did I tell you Abreeza will be opening til midnight on August 21? Also, don't forget to take pictures!
