Sunday Stealing: Leave It to Meme

Posted by The Queen Bee at Monday, July 27, 2009 0 comments

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger known as Kyddryn from Shadow and Sweetwater. She claims she stole it from someone on Facebook. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Music Monday#10: Never Gonna Give You Up by Nina and Joe Pizzulo

Posted by The Queen Bee at Monday, July 20, 2009 2 comments

I need to know someone
Who's warmer than the sunshine
Could be that you're the one for me
Ooh, you touch me deeper, darling
All my emotions' starting
Come to me now and you will see

REFRAIN:
That I'm never gonna give you up
For someone else's love
Never gonna let you go
And lose the one I love
Oh, tonight...tonight

Some people never know the
True magic of the moonlight
You give me everything I need
Woman, you really know me
Anticipation's growing
Come to me now so you will see

REFRAIN:
That I'm never gonna give you up
For someone else's love
Never gonna let you go
And lose the one I love
Oh, tonight...tonight

Ooh...ahhh...oooh
Forever we're together strong, ohh
Together here, forever here in love
Never gonna give you up
For someone else's love (you're mine forever)
Never gonna let you go
And lose the one I love
Never gonna give you up
For someone else's love (no I'll never, no)
Never gonna let you go
No one else's love

Never...never...
No one else's love
Never...never...
No one else's love

For this week's edition of Music Monday, I am picking one of my all-time favorite love songs, Never Gonna Give You Up with Nina and Joe Pizzulo's version of this song. There have been so many covers of this song and one of them is my super fave, Sergio Mendes but whether it's Nina or Sergio Mendes, I really don't mind because I really love listening to this song's melody.

That Harry Potter Look

Posted by The Queen Bee at Monday, July 20, 2009 0 comments

The latest Harry Potter sequel has just hit the cinemas last weekend and everyone was so excited about it. I remember some kids adore Harry Potter very much that they wanted to sport that Harry Potter look by wearing eyeglasses like that of Harry's. I must say parents are lucky that they can buy an $ 8 Rx eyeglasses for their kids.

Fortunately, there are still eyeglasses that are so easy on the budget and for that, it is just but right to give our High Five to Zenni Optical. I have been wearing eyeglasses for years now and I know that most eyeglasses really cost quite expensive so instead of choosing branded ones, I buy those that I can only afford. Then there was Zenni Optical on TV!!! Stylish frames are no longer for a few people who can afford expensive signature glasses because Zenni Optical offers chic and stylish frames at amazingly low prices.

Going back to Harry Potter, some friends were very frustrated after watching the movie because they were expecting it to be as exciting as the last Harry Potter movie.

How to Wear One Million Pesos in One Outfit

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, July 18, 2009 1 comments
I love to daydream and in my dream, I have plenty of money to burn. A friend once asked me how rich would I want to be, my reply is rich enough to just go to the airport and pick whichever destination I want to go to when I am bored. That rich! Then my friend's next question would be, what would be the first thing I do when I get rich and spontaneously, I would say SHOPPING!!

Hah! Then came Polyvore where I can always indulge in this virtual window shopping of all things lovely but I can only dream of having for even if I'd spend ten lifetimes working, I wouldn't be able to afford those. Or even if I do have money to burn, I just think that it would be too sinful to spend money on those things while a lot of people out there are dying of hunger. Well, that's another side of me, but I don't get to wear that persona in my dreams.

So, if I wear rich I'd be able to buy whatever I want like money is not an issue right? I've recently figured out how I would wear a Million pesos on a single outfit for a party.

The Dress - A pearl grey dress from Lanvin which I spotted at the L'inde La Palais worth Php 197,809.00.

A pair of beautiful shoes from Lesilla worth Php 136,741.00 that I found in Mercedeh Shoes. It's adorned with crystals which perfectly blends with the dress.

A glass insert satin clutch from Bally worth Php 119,458.00 I spotted at Luisaviaroma.

And no woman's outfit would ever be complete without accessories so I am definitely going to grab some jewelries.

Zoe Pear Diamond Necklace worth Php 364,449.00 available at Barney's.

A pair of earrings from Barney's that is worth Php 148,657.00.

Lastly, a John Hardy Pave Diamond silver cuff worth Php 95,668.00 and is available at Nordstrom.

There goes my million! The world is a paradox, it's unfair how it's so easy for some people to throw money away while a million others are famished. For some, it's quite bizarre to be able to wear a million pesos worth in just one time. Would I spend this much when I'm rich, heck no!

Pretty Laptop Bags

Posted by The Queen Bee at Thursday, July 16, 2009 2 comments
Way before I became a laptop owner, I have already planned to purchase a stylish laptop bag together with it so that I won't be mistaken for a sales rep or a med rep with those usual black laptop bag that most people use, just imagine it and I know you'll figure it out what I mean. Yep, the free bag that usually goes with the laptop you purchase.

My idea of a laptop bag is one that won't make people notice that I am actually bringing one with me because it looks like the normal bags that we use. In other words, STYLE is a requisite. Thanks to the geniuses who shares the same sentiments with me because now, we have a lot more choices when it comes to laptop bags and gone are the days where we carry around the "generic" laptop bag. Meaning, a laptop bag can be a tote bag, a courier bag or a slim bag, doesn't that make you feel divine? *Woohoo* Whenever I have time to go to my favorite mall, I make an effort to check out the Bags section to see if they have new styles for laptop bags. However, the ones that they sell there are way too expensive for me as they carry brands like Paul Smith. Alas, why not take my search online? You see, the internet has always been a good armament for the uneducated which I have failed to employ in the past as I don't want to be too dependent on it for information (lame excuse I know). Okay, so I don't use the internet for research until I learned how to blog but even up to now, I admit there are only a few sites that I go to for information except on the occasional blogs that I stumbled up when I do blog-hops.

Before I get off tangent again, here are my latest finds on fab and pretty laptop bags from acmemade (made me ask whether they were made from acme which again reminds me of Looney Tunes-the Tom and Jerry rivalry). And they also have nice laptop sleeves which I just found out that's how they are called because I used to refer to it as a laptop case like a cellphone case or something like that. Here are the pics, I have been drooling over these.

I hurriedly check their resellers' tab to see if these are sold in stores in the Philippines but I was sad that there's none and I don't see any. :(

The Facebook Power

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, July 15, 2009 1 comments
Itr_bigger

My sister once posted this as her shout out in Facebook, "De-stressin' by Facebookin". I found it funny at first but then later realized that indeed, Facebook has now become some people's way of relieving stress. What set Facebook apart from other social networking sites is the fact that it offers a lot of activities for its users with the different applications such as games and quizzes. Most of the Facebook users I know are in Facebook mainly for this reason, most of them are crazy about farming.

However, Facebook isn't just about past time because there are a lot of good things that we can reap out of using this social networking site. Businessmen, for instance, make good use of Facebook to expand their market share and advertise their business for free. In the same way, communities can also make use of Facebook to interact with one another. One community is actually making use of the InTheRooms Facebook App to provide its members a venue to connect to other members who are in the process of recovering from their respective addiction and how much recovery time they have spent. The good thing about it is that they protect their members' privacy by maintaining their anonymity. Now, that explains how the recovery site, InTheRooms got its name because most groups are anonymous from what I learned.

Another thing that's noteworthy about Facebook is the fact that with the 2010 Presidential Elections coming, a lot of aspiring politicians have been using it to their advantage. How? by simply being on Facebook, they can reach a vast multitude of prospective voters. Remember, how fast the call for anti-con ass spread? That's the Facebook power.

Music Monday#7: I'll Take Care of You

Posted by The Queen Bee at Monday, July 13, 2009 3 comments
I love this song and every time I hear this, my heart just melts and melts even more when I see the handsome crooner Richard Poon singing this song. Haaay!!!sends me off to dreamland again. So glad that they finally have the lyrics at lyricsmode.com and that I finally get to see a video in youtube. This is my entry for this week's Music Monday.

Lyrics | Richard Poon lyrics - I'll Take Care Of You lyrics

Richard Poon used to be a member of the now defunct band, U-turn which is also a favorite of mine. Another interesting fact that I have just discovered about Richard Poon is that his mother is a big star in Taiwan until now and that his father is a chef. Well, he surely inherited both genes since aside from being a musician, Richard Poon also owns Little Poon Restaurant. Hmmm... I love him even more.

Sunday Stealing #9: The Double Stealing Meme

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, July 11, 2009 7 comments

Today we ripped this meme off from two different blogs. For the first time since we have syndicated Sunday Stealing we have stolen two memes today. (During its exclusive run for its first two years on WTIT: The Blog, Bud did this many times.) Our first five questions were ripped from a blogger and blog named Pikohan (avatar above). Pikohan explains that she was tagged to do the meme by Lilly Flower and Koretetsu. Our second meme has 11 phrases for you to complete. It was stolen from Stacie at her blog Stacie’s Madness. She does not explain where she got it. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Sunday Stealing: The Double Stealing Meme

1. If you could turn back the hands of time to correct one wrongdoing, what event would you choose and why? I would have done better with my studies because I know I could have graduated with Honors had I wanted it.

2. Are you one for tradition? If so, what traditions do you strongly believe in? If not, what makes tradition hypocritical? Yes, most Filipino traditions that promote love and respect for our elders and our country and the value of one's family.

4. If you only had one day left to live, how would you spend your last day? Would you be tempted to live fatally if you knew you were to die the next day, and if so, what extreme measures would you take? If it were my last day on earth, I will spend the whole day with all the people I love, if possible and tell them how much they made my life meaningful. I'd also pick up which dress I am going to wear the next day. hahaha!

5. What are your top five sinful materialistic items, ones you'd expect from others including those closest to you? Why are each in the position they are in? food, food, food, food and food. Do I still have to expound on this?

6. I am...my mother's daughter. I am beginning to realize that we have an awful lot in common.

7. I feel...that my feet could no longer carry my weight so I guess it's time to go back to the gym.

16. I hope…that life will be good in the coming days and that there will be less worries and more exciting things to look forward to.

Photo Hunt#24: Garbage

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, July 11, 2009 5 comments

Looks scary, isn't it? yep, because this one's taken from our office Halloween celebration last year. Every year, our office holds a Halloween Trick or Treat for the employees' children and so to make it more horrifying hence more fun, we spice up our place with different horror themes to achieve a spooky effect.

The one above depicts a spooky cemetery. The materials that were used to create this awful scene were carbon papers that normally go to the garbage can after use. However, some of our imaginative colleagues were able to come up with a very good Halloween ambiance without spending by making use of such wastes. It's a proof that wastes are not always what we thought of them to be. It's always a good thing to always bear in mind to re-use, reduce and recycle so as to give our share of protecting Mother Earth.

This is my entry for this week's Photo Hunt theme of Garbage.

My Michael Jackson Memories

Posted by The Queen Bee at Friday, July 10, 2009 0 comments
Yesterday, Myx FM devoted a whole day tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. While I listened to songs by Michael Jackson, it brought back beautiful memories of my childhood. I don't know but for some reasons, when I get to listen to songs from way back, I often associate it with some happenings during that time. I realized that MJ and his music was a very big part of my growing up years and I bet not only in mine but in a million other people out there. Even before I was born, Michael Jackson has already marked a name in the consciousness of people around the world.

The song Smooth Criminal reminded me when I was still on the sixth grade, I must have even danced to this tune in school. I remember back then that we were always hearing Michael Jackson songs on the radio.

Two of my favorite Michael Jackson songs though were "The way you make me feel" and "Man in the Mirror" which MJ performed during the 1988 Grammy Music Awards. I was also in the sixth grade then.

But I guess, I love this song more where MJ collaborated with Paul McCartney, The Girl is Mine. It's one of my super favorite songs of all time that I can listen to it over and over again tirelessly. I didn't find a video of Michael performing this song but listen to it well and I know you'll love this song too.

When someone asked me whether I am sad that Michael Jackson is gone, of course I said yes! We'll surely be missing someone so remarkable. Michael Jackson is like superhuman to me. He may have left this world but he and his music will always be immortal.

Blah Blah Blah

Posted by The Queen Bee at Thursday, July 09, 2009 0 comments
I've had several thoughts a while back which I intended to blog but I got so hooked by the series of telenovelas that we've been closely watching every night that all of those ideas flew off. My mind just went blank, I suddenly remembered that adage that I absolutely love to blurt a few years back, "if you don't use it, you lose it". I realized that's so true now that I am beginning to notice that my memory fails me every now and then. That's a bad sign, right? Or maybe I should start using my neurons a little more these days before they get toasted. Oh, I suddenly remember that it has been a week since MJ passed and I haven't made a post about him, I surely will but posting about it with my eyes half open and my mind half awake won't do justice to the King of Pop so better yet, not to.

Anyways, it's past ten and it was a very tiring day for half the people in our department. The happenings were somewhat a mixture of funny, disappointing and horrible events. I am just glad that we managed to keep things running smoothly. That's it! Good night and may we all have sweet dreams to usher us to waking up to a bright and beautiful morning tomorrow.

Music Monday#6: Calling your name again

Posted by The Queen Bee at Sunday, July 05, 2009 3 comments
I woke up feeling a bit nostalgic today so my Music Monday entry is something that's for the broken-hearted. This is one of my most favorite emote-mode songs and I was right, it's title is "Calling your name again" and this time I finally knew who the singer behind the song was, Richard Carpenter of (I bet your guess is good as mine) The Carpenters. I am glad that I got the lyrics too via lyricsmode.com. It may be nostalgic but what the heck, I love this song and every line therein. Oh Jed Madela's got his own version of this song too.

Gorgeous, chic and fab...Need I say more?

Posted by The Queen Bee at Sunday, July 05, 2009 0 comments
I am so daydreaming again. And why not? I was ( and am not yet done) drooling over beautiful headpieces from Jennifer Behr and Evita Peroni. There was some point in my life when I was so obsessed with hair accessories that when I went to Manila, I bought several pieces but never got to use most of them so I ended up giving them away. Headbands though were my least favorite because for one, I can't last wearing one because I end up getting a headache. Imagine having a pair of tongs tightly clasped on your head, how do you think that would feel? A major migraine attack, simply. That was before I met these beautiful pieces of art.

Looks familiar, yes some of these headpieces were spotted on celebrities like Paris Hilton, Natalie Portman and Nicole Ritchie. Locally, we first heard about it when showbiz media were making a big fuss over Ann Curtis' headpiece worth Php35,000.00 *pffft...*which she wore on her birthday. Kris Aquino also flaunted her piece at last week's episode of The Buzz but bought hers at a discounted price. Whoa! even if it's sold at 90% off the regular price, I won't be able to afford that. If ever I do, I will always be wearing it with my hands on my head every now and then for fear that somebody might snatch it.

Clearly, this would just be another daydreaming episode for me. Well, not exactly. Knowing us Filipinos, we are very ingenious and so in a not so distant future from now, these expensive pieces will have a substitute at a much much lower price. I can't even imagine myself splurging on one Evita Peroni hair accessory because I think that would be so sinful of me. But they are just so lovely that I promise, when I am richer (*daydreaming again*) I'd buy myself a few pieces.

Time to go to la la land where I can go on dreaaaaming...

Photo Hunt#23: Pink

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, July 04, 2009 13 comments

I missed last week's Photo Hunt as I got caught up with a lot of things. My little sister had her civil wedding so my tito (uncle), titas (aunts) and lola (grandma) were here to attend the occasion. It was an uber busy but a very happy weekend especially that my sister Jenny was here too!

Okay, before this post goes to somewhere else, Photo Hunt's theme for this week is Pink. I am not exactly infatuated with pink unlike most girls I know but I like the color. So when my sister Jenny and I went for a photo walk at People's Park here in Davao City during her previous visit last May, I never hesitated to take a snapshot of this dainty blooms. This looks similar to calachuchi but I know it's not because the leaves are not the same. I bought a calachuchi plant about three years ago during a Kadayawan Agri Fair but until now, I can almost say with finality that I am not gifted with a green thumb.*sigh*

See more pretty and dainty pink photos.
