Photo Hunt#19: Books

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, May 30, 2009 10 comments

I have plenty of books that needs my attention. Among them are the twilight series which my sister gave almost a year ago. Up to now, I haven't found the time to read it. I do hope I'll be able to before the new moon movie shows. Good thing that this week's theme is about books because it reminded me of it.

Fight Against Plagiarism

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, May 30, 2009 1 comments
I have blogged about this on my other blog but I am re-posting it here again for more coverage.

I have come across several bloggers already who complain about their posts being copied by other bloggers without their consent and the offending party claiming ownership over their work. The thought of this just makes me cringe. One unfortunate incident is that of a blogger whose opportunity post was disapproved because her work was stolen by another blogger and got credit for it. That was so horrible. To make an end to this, a few bloggers have started this campaign and Tes finally tagged me on this.

For those who copy written works of other people, did you know that it is a crime? Yes, the word for it is plagiarism and it is punishable by law.

copy from here:

What is Plagiarism?

According to Dictionary, Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.

To all Bloggers who exert effort to create noteworthy entries and who continue to maintain a Blog which is a reflection of who she / he is, " Good job! "

To those who have the desire to Blog but are merely scraping contents from other people' s materials, " Whether you are monetizing your site to help you with your basic needs or to satisfy some of your wants, do it the proper way. Stop making money out of someone else's work. Otherwise, you are nothing but a common thief!"

I encourage all other bloggers to join us in this campaign. Let us help stop plagiarism.

Happy Birthday to Me

Posted by The Queen Bee at Sunday, May 24, 2009 0 comments
Gorgeous Nelly is celebrating her birthday today and just as she had promised herself, she's obliging herself to make a post before this day ends.

So here it is. What's one supposed to do on their birthdays anyway? Throw a party, pamper one's self, I've done those things in the past and I am not in the mood to splurge these days. So let me just put it on paper and be kind enough to share my birthday thoughts with you. If you've noticed, I have managed to maintain my anonymity on the web except for a few close friends who know me.

The past year was a rollercoaster ride for me. I had too much pressure and stressful events coming my way without me being prepared for it. I still have to struggle with some of those things until now. Just recently, I have discovered that I can be the most psychotic person I know. I don't know but it got me thinking lately if I have reached my threshold and whether I am on the verge of breaking down. Not so nice thoughts to start with for another year, I know. Well, they are just thoughts.

After more than a quarter of a century, I still am uncertain about the future just as I am uncertain about what I really want. One thing I am certain about is that I am just like the rest of us, always chasing for that elusive thing called happiness.

Birthday Wishes? He knows my heart's desires.

PhotoHunt #18: Plastic

Plastic plants that looked real are often used to accentuate walls. In this case, this lovely piece makes up for a beautiful artwork. I took this in one of the restos here in our place that me and my family frequently goes to. Apart from being picture perfect, this too is suitable for this week's plastic them of where you may also check out other Photo Hunters. Happy Weekend.

I Heart Davao

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, May 16, 2009 1 comments

These are some of the fabulous finds that me and my sister Jenny discovered during her pasalubong hunt before she went back to Manila last week. We went to this hip store in Gaisano Mall called SunLab where there are plenty of chic and fashionable items for sale ranging from statement shirts to cool laptop bags. We particularly liked these notebooks that speak much about our beloved place, Davao City.

These notebooks are actually made in Davao by Coed Clothing Company which as you can tell, also sells shirts. I have read their product tags and was happy that they do really aim to tell people about Davao and re-orient the younger generations of this city to what Davao used to be when they were still floating some unknown wonderland. The instant I saw the First Dates notebook, it readily painted a smile on our faces as we reminisce the fun memories we had when our parents used to take us out for Merienda at Orange Brutus or having our Lunch at Barrio Gaisano after hearing Sunday Masses. Without second thoughts, I bought one for myself even if I don't have any purpose for it. I already love notebooks as it is but having one that is so special in the sense that it brings back happy memories of my childhood is more than a thousand good reasons enough to make me buy it.

This makes up for a fabulous pasalubong for your friends too. In fact, my sister said her officemates super loved it. The Typhoon-Free Dvo notebook is a best seller, I must say. When I last checked, they already ran out of stock. Why not? We super love Davao and proud that it remains to be typhoon-free.

Painted flowers at People's Park in Davao City does not go unnoticed whenever one goes there. This is just one of the many admirable work of arts that adorns the People's Park. Photo Hunt #16: In Memory Of

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, May 09, 2009 3 comments

This week's theme for Photo Hunt is "In Memory Of", so upon scouring through my files, I found these photos of our previous vacation in Bohol. The above photos were taken at the Blood Compact Site between Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Sikatuna in Bohol. Spanish colonization is very evident in the Island as seen in the old churches that spread throughout the islands of Bohol.

It is so amazing and wonderful for people of younger generations like me to be able to re-live and experience places where history took place.

I want Shoes...More shoes..and a Summer Dress

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, May 06, 2009 3 comments
Like I have mentioned in my previous posts, I am a self-confessed shoe addict. For the past week now, I have this strong craving to buy a couple of new pairs again. In fact, me and my sister have paid a visit to several stores over the weekend and have found a few pairs that I find irresistible but I only ended up frustrated since there was no size available for me. So instead, I did virtual window shopping for shoes but instead I was fascinated with these several pretty sun dresses and summer dress I found.

These two are perfect for this summer and since my sister is here for a vacation, heading to the beach is such a welcome respite for it has been so long since I have been to the beach. The last time was more than a year ago when we went Dolphin watching in Bohol. Since I have no plans of dipping in the waters, a beautiful summer dress will definitely make a great outfit. I can't wait to wear it but I just hope that the summer heat won't be that torturous to the skin for I'll surely have a bad day.

As to my shoe cravings, I am more into wedges these days as I grew tired of the slim and tiring high-heeled stilletos already since my weight could no longer keep up. I found a few nice pairs of wedges too and here's one that I really like.

I just had a wonderful time doing my virtual online shopping. There are actually a lot of fabulous finds out there just waiting to be discovered. Thankfully, I was able get past my frustration for that missing shoe size.

Photo Hunt #15: Walking

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, May 02, 2009 15 comments

Walking around while carrying a heavy weight on one's shoulder is not an easy task most especially if one does it for a living. The photo above shows a worker in General Santos city Fish Port Complex carrying a gigantic tuna that must have weighed like the earth on Hercules' shoulder.

It was during the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit in General Santos City and a first time for me and two of my friends to join. Part of the itinerary for the second day of the summit which was graciously spearheaded by Kuya Avel Manansala of Bariles Republic was a trip to their Fish Port. I must say that it's one of the best and the cleanest Fish Port that I have visited because there's not a sight of even a single fly inside the vicinity. Gen. Santos City is considered to be the Tuna Capital of the Philippines because of it's abundant supply of Tuna, a part of which is also exported to other countries. Thus, if one buys tuna from Gen. Santos City or from the Philippines for that matter, I can guarantee you that it's the best.

So much for chit-chats, this also happens to be my entry for this week's Photo Hunt. No, not the tuna but the man walking with a gargantuan tuna on his shoulder. To check out more Photo Hunters, click here.
