All-Day Breakfast @ Caffé Firenzo

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, August 30, 2008 0 comments

Yeah, I know this is beginning to look like a food blog because you
see, most of the items here lately are salacious delight to your eyes

not only to your palate huh? But that's how it is. I love food and I just can't live one day without it. That explains why most diet programs don't work for me.

Thick Bacon and Sunny-side eggs, you may think that's what I had for breakfast but nope. I had it for dinner. At Caffé Firenzo, they serve all-day breakfast at the price of Php125.00. Choices include Schublig Sausage, Ham and Thick Bacon. Other items worth trying out is their Spinach Pizza which costs P280.00. Really yummy, I bet Popeye, the sailorman would surely love it. Plus, the ambience is really good.

Meet one of my major addictions, coffee. I have always been a coffee drinker ever since I can remember. There's never a day that I don't drink a cup of coffee.

In the morning, a hot cup of coffee greets me with its fresh and enticing aroma. It serves as my alarm clock as if it signals my body that its ready to face the day ahead of me. As such, my day is never complete without coffee. It makes me feel lethargic and so out of my wits.

Hence, being a coffee drinker makes the sprout of coffee shops everywhere a welcome sight to me. There have been a lot of new coffee shops recently but the first signature coffee shop in Davao, Blugré remains to be my favorite. The Durian cappuccino tops my list of favorite coffee. Coffee mixed with delicious durian bits. Hmm... two of my most favorite in the world, tastes perfect! I know it sounds so sinful, caffeine and fat-laden durian but everything should be taken in moderation, yeah I know that. The one in the picture is what I had last Saturday evening at Caffé Firenzo, the new and chic coffee shop at Damosa Complex in Lanang. It's a place worth checking out so I guess it deserves to have a different post that's entirely devoted to the Caffé Firenzo experience.

Search People Worldwide

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, August 27, 2008 0 comments
When I am using the internet, one of my favorite things to do is to find some of my long lost friends who have either migrated to other countries or are currently working outside the country. It is so much fun and exciting to be able to reconnect with old friends whom you haven't heard from for quite a long time.

Thanks to the genius of for I can instantly do my People Search without much sweat because it's so easier to find people by performing a search by their last names. You ought to try it and you will see how exciting it is to find people again.

Wonderful Day for the Chatterbox

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, August 27, 2008 0 comments
My Chatterbox is just so amazing today. Haven't you noticed anything here? This space is so wide awake after a very long hiatus from blogging. I admit that blog posts here used to be sporadic just depending on my mood to write as I was so focused on my first blog Watchamacallit!.

Then the other day, I got the shock of my life when I accidentally found out that this one's got a google pagerank too! I didn't know what it took to get such rating but I couldn't be much happier for that surprise. I just hope that I will be able to keep it this level for eternity. hehehe...

Car Loans

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, August 27, 2008 0 comments
Our car is so small for a big family like ours. I remember during our recent land trip to visit our grandparents who are here in the country for a short vacation. There were only five of us in the car but it was so overcrowded with the things we need to bring like bags of clothes and food we will be consuming for the entire trip. That was when my mom and dad thought about getting a bigger and spacious car.

Sounds like a good idea but brand new cars are so expensive nowadays that we would probably never afford to pay it in cold cash. This is why we are in the process of looking for a creditor who offers Car Loans for those who wish to get a new car but doesn't have enough cash. I stumbled upon last night which could probably help me learn more about online car finance services.

"God balances our lives by giving us enough blessings
to keep us happy,
enough burdens to keep us humble,
and enough hardships to keep us strong."

This is a message sent by my friend. Such words are so true. Whatever God gives us in our lives happens for a reason. We may not always see it the way he does but we can always be sure that God's ways are never our ways. God is a good God and he will will never give us something that we cannot bear. His grace is always enough to sustain us.

Dying to lose weight

Posted by The Queen Bee at Wednesday, August 27, 2008 0 comments
For a majority of my life, I have always worn snug-fit clothes. I used to fit in kid's size 12 shirt and my waistline used to be 23 inches so I never have any problem with choosing which clothes to wear since I can wear almost anything I want. But those were just things of the past. During the past three years, I added more and more pounds to my weight and similarly, layers of fat pile up my mid-section making it such an ugly sight. My weight gain has never done me any good because not only has it cost me more money to buy new sets of clothes as the old ones no longer fit me, the more negative effect is the impact it has on how I look at myself and how uncomfortable this body has made me feel.

As a conscious effort to get back into shape, I have desperately tried almost everything from going into diets to doing all sorts of exercises. I enrolled myself in a gym where I have literally tried aerobics exercises, cardio exercise programs and strength training. I have also tried several sports that also serve as good cardio exercise like badminton. I managed to lose weight but it's only minimal until one day I was so desperate enough that I decided to go on a strict diet even if I was never the type who can stand those things. I have always viewed those diet plans a form of self-deprivation. At first, I was so confused which one to follow as there are as many diet programs out there claiming to make you lose weight in just a few weeks. There are even those that are claimed by big stars to have been responsible for their awesome weight loss. One of them is singer Queen Latifah who uses the Jenny Craig diet plan. Others appeal to one's whole being like what Weight watchers claim to do.

Whatever diet plan they wanna call it, I know the one diet program that will suit me would be one that will allow me to eat anytime I want to eat. I just can't live without food. Thankfully, I may have probably found the answer to my weight loss problem when just recently, I came across the website where I read that you can actually lose weight by eating several times a day. Hmm... sounds perfect for me. I have to try this one out.

Saturday Night at the Yellow Hauz

Posted by The Queen Bee at Tuesday, August 26, 2008 1 comments

Saturday evenings are the best time to have a little teté a teté with close friends over a delicious cup of soothing café latté in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

So after almost a year of planning to check out the Yellow Hauz, we finally managed to slip a trip to this coffee shop one fine Saturday in August.

Situated in one of Davao's oldest residential areas, the Yellow Hauz is a coffee shop right in the ground level of a two-storey house along Araullo St. in Davao City. Literally called as the yellow house because of its attractive bright yellow color, any passerby would immediately take notice of the Yellow Hauz.

My Saturday rendevouz at the Yellow Hauz was such a fine experience although the food is not much something to talk about as it is just like most food you see in a common coffee shop. We ordered pizza and coffee that night. Nevertheless, we had a great time as it felt as if we were having coffee right in the comfort of our living room.

PR 3 for my Chatterbox

Posted by The Queen Bee at Monday, August 25, 2008 0 comments

Google PageRank Checker

I accidentally learned today that this chatterbox already got a google pagerank. I was so happy that I just could not help but smile and I can't manage to take that smile off my face. It was totally unexpected and unbelievable because you probably know that this is quite a neglected blog. Nevertheless, thanks to dear google for thinking that this deserves a pagerank of 3 out of 10. I greatly appreciate it. The problem now is the pressure to keep the pagerank. It demands a lot of nurturing to keep it this way.

Kadayawan Festival 2008

Posted by The Queen Bee at Saturday, August 16, 2008 3 comments
The Kadayawan Festival here in Davao City will start tomorrow August 16, 2008 and runs until August 24, 2008. It is a festival celebrated by the natives of Davao as a thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. As expected, the city's festive mood is already visible as manifested by the influx of visitors from foreign countries as well as from other regions of the country.
The most anticipated part of the Kadayawan will be the floral parade where participating entries showcase their ingenuity and creativity through the floats which are usually made of flowers and fruits. I am planning to be there to witness this year's parade and of course, take snapshots so I can share them with you.

Food Stop: Kangaroo

Posted by The Queen Bee at Sunday, August 10, 2008 1 comments

After hearing mass at Assumption Church at F. Torres St. last friday wherein our company was one of the sponsors, my officemates and I went to check out the newest place at Metro Lifestyle Complex that opened that day. However, the place was packed with people being an opening day. We know that's how it is, people swarm over the newest place but then gets tired of it sooner.
And so we decided to go somewhere else to eat. We did a great deal of walking that my heels swelled and got blisters on the sole of my feet too. What made us walk some more was the inability to make up our minds about where to eat until finally we decided to settle for Kangaroo. I tried their Baked Penne and it tasted good. Just looking at it makes me salivate. Maybe I should try to bake this stuff one of these days as it is becoming my favorite pasta nowadays.

The Power of Prayer

Posted by The Queen Bee at Tuesday, August 05, 2008 0 comments
A thoughtful blogger made this wonderful tag for all of the casualties of the sea tragedy involving MV Princess of the Stars. We all know that not all bodies at the sunken MV princess has been recovered yet so let us all join in this prayer. By the way, blogger friend Race gave me this tag. Thanks Race for sharing this beautiful prayer.

Prayer for the MV Princess of the stars fatalities and survivors.
Dear God, we pray that you comfort each bereaved family everyday as they grieved for their loss, we pray that you will supply all their needs, we pray for the survivors that they may have a good life after the tragedy, that you will bless them and let them know in the deepest part of their heart that in spite of what have happened, you LOVE and CARE for them. This we pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. I encourage everyone to keep the prayer going. LET’S P.U.S.H. (PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS).

Weekend Splurge

Posted by The Queen Bee at Friday, August 01, 2008 1 comments
It's a Saturday and I am supposed to do some overtime work as my desk is filled with tons of papers. But I'm too caught up with blogging that I'd probably just go to the office later plus the fact that I am so in the mood to shop, hmmm.let's just see if I still have time. (I hope my boss is not reading this!) Yesterday, I already received the money I earned during the first month of my paid blogging stint and isn't it just fitting that I buy something as a remembrance from it?
I already have a list in my mind and I hope I'll be able to find it this afternoon.

PR 5 for my Watchamacallit!

Posted by The Queen Bee at Friday, August 01, 2008 1 comments
My first blog, Watchamacallit! finally earned a PageRank from Google, a PR of 5. It came as a surprise as I do not expect my site to have a PR but well, it did get a PR of 5. It was a pleasant surprise since before I used to wish that I'd have a pagerank even only a PR1. I hope this chatterbox will also get a pagerank in the future but I need to do a lot of hardwork here.
What did I do? I remember posting daily so that my site is always updated, linking up to other bloggers and bloghopping frequently so I can also get others to visit my site. I guess that worked for my other site. Hope it will do wonders for this one too.
