The news about Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis still haunts me as a big disappointment. Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors ever since his 21 Jumpstreet days and the split-up with his 14-year old flame was a shocker. But hey, what could be more shocking about news coming out that the newest hookup in Hollywood happens to be, well, Johnny Depp and Ashley Olsen. If you're a big fan of Mr. Jack Sparrow, I suppose you are as surprised as I am. So read this article from Hollywoodlife.com.
Though not everything we hear and read in tabloids are true, still, an Ashley Olsen and Johnny Depp affair is unimaginable. I gotta grab a cup of hot mint tea to get my sanity back!

Don't you just love the idea of having a social magazine with contents of your own choice? Of course, I'm sure you do. I am loving this app called Flipboard that I downloaded for my iPod because I can stay informed and connected with the latest news. It's convenient and as easy as flipping through the pages of your favorite magazine. Plus, I can choose which articles to read by customizing my own and I can stay connected with updates from my friends in social networking sites. Take a look at this video and you'll understand why I am so into this app right now.

Relaxation- in physics, the restoration of equilibrium following disturbance.
I have been to Plantation Bay in November 2007 but never got the chance to stay and explore the place. Now forward to June 2012, we finally had the chance to have a relaxing family staycation in this extremely comfortable resort. Although, the whole bunch wasn't complete because my brother and sister from Abu Dhabi were not there, the Plantation Bay experience was awesome! Though the Ocean Jet vessel that took us from Bohol to Cebu arrived late, Chris, the driver designated to fetch us from the Pier patiently waited for us for an hour. It didn't take long for the lady at the front desk to process out check-in and in no time we were nestled in our king-sized beds. We purposely reserved the room with a good view of the lagoon for the four of us so we can see other guests as they frolic in the waters.
My sister was so excited to go kayaking so right after lunch, we grab our beach towels and went kayaking for an hour under the heat of the afternoon sun. I know I confessed that I don't have a sense of balance but voila I was able to achieve balance the whole time we were paddling else our little boat would've capsized and I didn't want to submerge myself in the waters. Success!but my legs numbed though after that because I didn't dare move.
Aside from the shuttle that will take you anywhere you want to go within the resort, they also have a calesa ride. There's Borj who took us from the lagoon to Savannah Grill. Plantation Bay Resort is great for family fun because there's a variety of activities that you can do here. Aside from kayaking, they have other aqua rides, pools and slides, gym and game room, diving facilities, and for sports enthusiasts, they can try the indoor firing range, tennis courts, golf course, wallclimbing and even archery. And after you've tried all of these tiring activities, you can have a relaxing massage at the Mogambo Springs, Plantation Bay's health and relaxation spa.
Now, there's too much to say in one post so I'll save the gastronomic feast for another post. You bet I didn't forget that. For more info, visit Plantation Bay's website.

I've been wanting to hear U2 again and since that performance in the American Idol Finals, I've been searching for this song on you tube and searching for the guy's name too, so it's Reeve Carney. The song I'm talking about is part of the soundtrack of the new Spiderman movie which is called Rise Above. When I finally got to see the video, I kept on playing it over and over again because knowing U2, I know the lyrics must have a lot of meaning. And as expected, I have come to love a line in this new song that I recite to myself over and over whenever I begin to feel irrational. It says "It's time for reason. Has a heart had enough, it's time to let go and rise above." The line perfectly describes my predicament. Now I can't wait for the movie, there's so much to watch out for, a different Peter Parker, a different MJ and a different costume. I hope we won't be disappointed. Now so much for the blabber, here's the video. Enjoy!

So when August kicks in, the city is ushered into a month of full of merriment and the one that most of us look forward to, a month filled with holidays. In fact, August 19 has already been declared a non-working holiday for Davaoenos in celebration of the Kadayawan. If you're in for some fun, you might want to join and go see one of the activities lined-up for this year's Kadayawan. Here's what's cooking:

Hudyakaan - I don't wanna miss this one this year, I'd love to try foodtripping on a budget.
Hiyas ng Kadayawan Finals - Find out who will be crowned as this year's most beautiful and smartest.
Davao City Recreational Center
August 17, 6PM
SM City of Davao
Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan - it's one of the highlights of the Kadayawan Festival where participants compete in a choreographed streetdance which is anchored on indigenous celebration. This is held in the major streets of Davao City.

Pamulak sa Kadalanan - A floral parade where floats of competing groups are adorned with fruits and flowers.
The ones I listed above are just some of the major happenings in Davao City this week, of course there will be shows in major malls to expect with celebrities from major networks. In case you decide to go around, don't forget to bring some moolah with you because I tell you, you will find a lot of good things to buy. A dear friend's mom passed away early this month and as I entered the door of the funeral chapel, there was a feeling of nostalgia as I was greeted by the scent of flowers that lay beside the coffin. It was like transporting back to almost two years ago when my pillar of strength went to be with our creator. Like me, my friend lost her mom to a crippling disease. We both witnessed how painful it is to see the one who gave us life suffer so much before finally breathing their last. Those who lost a mom like us knows one will never get over that feeling of loss, no one and nothing can fill the void caused by it.
Since mom went away, I have learned to appreciate the value of dreams. A dream of mom would make me wake up happy the next day. The feeling of being with her and being able to see her face to face and feel her touch in a dream is priceless since she left. The thought of her sends an unquenchable thirst of being able to hug her so every night before I fall in deep slumber, I pray that I'd be with her in my dreams so that even for that moment, I will relive the feeling of having that comforting touch and the feeling of security I haven't felt since she left because I only felt safest with you my momma, I miss you so much.
My mom is probably the strongest person I have ever known, I am inspired by her toughness. She stood tall despite the barrage of tests that came her way from work, her family, relationships and her health. The greatest display of strength that mom probably made is asking forgiveness from the person who did her wrong, that person that I cannot forgive because even if my mom had long passed away, he continues to oppress her and deprive her of her rights. As I write this, I am reminded of how my mom set a good example for me as I continue to struggle with this issue on forgiveness but everything is a process and I have just begun to pick up the pieces and deal with it bit by bit.
I know she has never really left because in my dreams, she tells me she knows what I am going through and she constantly reassures me everything will be alright. Thank you mommy for being my angel both here on earth and from up above. I love you so much.

Here's the video of Akon performing Angel at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The girls' gorgeous bodies got me green with envy! Makes me feel like Jabba the Hut.

In about 5 days, my most favorite and beloved chocolate labrador in the entire universe is going to turn two year-old. I am talking about Max, the pet we gave dad when mom passed away almost two years ago. Time really flies fast because the little naughty puppy that came to our lives in October of 2009 is now a big, brawny dad of 3 healthy puppies. Despite that, Maxey is still the possessive dog we know. He gets jealous whenever his masters talk to strangers or pet other puppies. He wants all of our attention to be his and his alone.
I took this collage of pictures last Saturday, see how pro he has become in projecting himself in front of the camera. I have been officially dislodged as the reigning camwhore at home.
Max at 3 months old. This shot was taken after an early morning visit to mom's grave, we stopped by Jollibee for breakfast. While waiting for us to finish our meal, he settled underneath one of the chairs seemingly bored. Happy Birthday Good Boy! You're the sweetest dog of all.
