Sunday Stealing: The Strange Question Meme 2

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named Leo Maccool at the blog Butch Girlcat. It's a 50 question meme, so we decided do it in two parts. Today is Part 2. She explains that she stole meme from the ever-fabulous GREG. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!

Time off from Blogging

After several weeks of absence, I finally got the urge to go online again. This is my first to check on my blogs again and was surprised that quite a few readers come and visit here. Thank you to those who have been frequenting my blog despite the silence.

Ten days ago, my family and I came face to face with our worst fear, our mom's death. Everything seemed so unreal until now. I guess I still have to come to terms with the reality that she is no longer here. Death is such a spoiler that I lost my will to go on with the things that I used to do to make life bearable.

While I bask in sadness and mourning, I shall be spending less time blogging and doing other online activities. I guess it was a good thing that I postponed my plans of getting a full web hosting plan. Web hosting geeks was a great help though because it made me take time to ponder and weigh things before choosing the best web hosting provider.

I hope mom is happy where she is right now but I am sure that she'll surely go to heaven. Like what she said to dad a couple of months before she died, just think of her like she went for a long vacation abroad. I didn't expect that the trip would come so soon. I really miss you mommy.

My World: Alona Beach, Panglao Bohol

Alona Beach Resort is just one among the many beautiful beaches in Panglao, Bohol. This photo was taken on a sunny mid-afternoon but despite the scorching heat of the sun, one cannot help but be captivated by the breathtaking view of the beach.

For tourists, Bohol is a haven and an attraction that's worth seeing because a lot of beautiful places that are both designed by man and nature can be found here. The beautiful white sand beaches, the amazing Chocolate Hills are in fact, only some of the beautiful tourist attractions here. When we went to Bohol for a weekend-long vacation, Alona Beach Resort was just a jump-off point to a more exciting dolphin-watching adventure and an enjoyable experience at the Balicasag Island where everything was devoid of traces of the hustling and bustling city life. There was no electricity and no potable water, everything that we ate and drank were brought to the island from outside via a motorized boat. But the beauty of the sea that we experienced was priceless. It was a memorable and fun experience.

This post is only a peek into my beautiful paradise called Philippines and this is my entry for this week's:

Super Typhoon Pepeng is Coming

We've barely recovered from the massive damage caused by Ondoy, the Filipinos are again bracing themselves for another storm. Super Typhoon Pepeng whose international name is Parma, is classified as a Category 5 typhoon with maximum winds of 230-250kph. I have read in the Inquirer that this is going to be the projected path of Super Typhoon Pepeng which is expected to hit Manila on Saturday afternoon.

We have a sister who lives in Manila and we are extremely worried. I know we can be a little overboard, consistently reminding her to be prepared and what to do whenever a typhoon is coming. Seeing the ghastly destruction that Ondoy left, we can't help but be alarmed. Everyone was caught unprepared back then with the aftermath of the heavy rains that Ondoy brought, then we have every reason now to be prepared for Super Typhoon Pepeng.

We kept on telling our sister to always bear these things in mind:

Essentials:

Flashlights and batteries
Ready to eat and ready to cook food like noodles and canned goods
Medical Kit and medicines like paracetamol and loperamide
bottled water
toiletries
candles and matches
fully-charged cellphone

What to do:

withdraw money from ATM ahead of time
Listen to the News
Charge cellphone
Keep in touch
keep presence of mind and don't panic in order for you to assess things. If you need to evacuate, do so while you still can.
and most importantly: Pray unceasingly

In this time of great trial, we can only hope and pray that the typhoon averts its path or for it not to be as fierce as the one before it.

Halloween Trick or Treat

It's the first day of the last quarter today and as we approach October, I was fixing my stocks of old photos when I saw our scary snapshots of last year's Halloween Trick or Treat where our office held a contest on the department that can transform their place into the spookiest atmosphere. This is a photo of the contest winner:

The people in our Admin department are so creative because they were able to come up with the best Halloween design using scrap materials. On the day of Halloween itself, there was a Trick or Treat for the little tykes where they dressed up in cute yet spooky Halloween costumes. Some adults also dressed up in Halloween costumes to join the party. I am equally excited what this year's Halloween would be like so I am telling my co-workers to better Buy Halloween Costumes Online or in a Halloween Store Near You.

In the online world, an online Halloween Contest called Jack's Quest which aims to find America's best Halloween adventure is making the buzz these days. All that participants need to do is to submit their story including photos and videos of it from last Halloween and let their readers vote for it.

I am sure people from our department will be up for a lot of brainstorming again as they think of a unique theme for this year's Halloween. I wish that we will be able to win this time.

My World: People's Park

I thought of joining another photo meme. I came across the My World Meme in several blogs quite some time ago but wasn't that sure if I can sustain this weekly meme considering I haven't traveled much. On second thought, methinks this meme is about "my world" anyway so why fret.

My first entry for My World would be our People's Park here in Davao City.

A lot of activities can be done inside the People's Park. In fact, people often come here to walk, jog or do other forms of exercise. Families also come together here for picnics while some go here to take photographs. I only wish that they'll be able to maintain the place as time goes by.

This is my entry for:

See more worlds at My World.
